Sacramento County deputies are working a shooting that unfolded on April 18 2026 at Howe Park as officers were breaking up an unlawful assembly of hundreds of attendees.
Background
Law enforcement were first called to the park at approximately 6:30 in the evening after obtaining information of people potentially armed with concealed firearms. Not long after, a follow-up call was made regarding a possible fight unfolding at the location.
A law enforcement helicopter conducted an aerial sweep but found nothing to substantiate the fight report. Despite this, deputies found that hundreds of people had assembled at the park without permission.
When the Shots Rang Out
Officers started clearing the unauthorized gathering by setting up around the park's perimeter and broadcasting over loudspeakers telling the hundreds present to disperse at once. About 15 minutes were spent for attendees to disperse.

The Shooting Victims
Ultimately, four shooting victims were discovered with shooting injuries. The Investigation
The bulk of the shooting was confirmed to have been concentrated near the Cottage Way side of the park near the Home Depot store situated at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. Law enforcement investigators recovered more spent casings on Cottage Way. Bullet damage were discovered in the iron fence alongside the nearby Home Depot. These discoveries confirmed that a second shooter had been shooting in a southerly direction from Cottage Way aimed at the Home Depot. The store itself was secured under a brief lockdown as a precaution. Crime scene personnel stayed at the location throughout the night.
Suspect Vehicle Located
Intelligence received through scanner monitoring indicated that a suspect Kia was contacted by law enforcement in an area within Solano County. Four suspects were detained. Law enforcement units were traveling to Solano County to bring the suspects back for further questioning. Video evidence showed that two individuals had fired weapons.
